htaccess auto-redirect to HTTPS

Recommended Posts

  • Your suggestion: Make all connections go through the https protocol through .htaccess
  • How this suggestion can help the community?: Well currently this site when typed in on the url bar it always proceeds to link you to the http version, which when you are told to enter anything anywhere, such as the register.php page or even the page used to post a reply to a thread it will display a big red "Not secure" in the url bar, which may make people hesitant to sign up to these forums. Re-directing them to the https version might make them feel safer when signing up to this site, bringing more members.
  • More details: .htaccess is a file in the root your website on an apache server, you may be running this site on a different type of web hosting software, i don't know, but i'm just presuming that you're using an apache server since y'know... you're using PHP for the forum backend

    If you don't know what the fuck to do, here's what I referenced when I configured my site, You may have to do additional configuration in the ACP so the site's css doesn't explode, just be cautious;

I'll take a look into what suggested, but you're right here. When people register they see the "Not-secure" in the url bar which makes them kinda scared let's say? But thank you so much for putting effort into this and actually suggesting updates for the forum.
